  • The drive noise was resolved by replacing it with a rubber joint. In order to be able to move forward at very low speeds, I replaced the positive and negative wiring of the motor and reversed the forward and reverse directions. The high frequency sound generated by the amplifier at low speeds was reduced by wrapping the receiver box in a urethane sheet and pasting a 1mm rubber plate under the deck. I increased the rudder angle to be able to make small turns.

Hi my friend,... what a wonderfull modification! The Tugboat 686 just swapped over to Europe and a lot of kids start their rc-career with it. Actually a lot of more older ones, like me, also did aquire one and are trying to modify them, too... thanks for uploading and describing what you did with yours....
    Best wishes,
    Holger from Subwaterfilm

Hello, thank you for your comment! Sorry for the late reply.
I take advantage of the low cost of buying it and don't replace the mechanism, just make some modifications and use it.

Hello. This looks just perfect. Very sleek and scale. Any chance of getting some build log, instructions or materials of what you did to the look of it? Thanks, great work.

Hello ! You made a great job on your Sea Bear !! I juste bought one. How did you reversed the forward and reverse directions on the command ? To still go straight when you push with your finger ? By the way all your job your boats is impressive 👏👏👏 greatings from France !

      Hello! Thanks for your comment!
To reverse forward and reverse, just swap the motor wiring.
The operation of the controller stick is of course reversed. Reverse is less sensitive near neutral, so it works well at low speeds. A stopper is provided for reverse so the stick lever does not open all the way.greatings from Japan !

@@KMorozou thanks for your quick return ! All is clear. I tought you also switched the 2 ends of the potentiometer on the printed circuit. But its may be a risk to break all the command. I made your custom tips and its perfect, with 60g of ballast. Thanks a lot !

    Great job!!!
I have ordert 1 my self.
Its gonna be working as a recovery tug for my othter rc boats.
I have a question, where can 1 find the bumpers that's you have on youre tug?
And on fb i see that you have made a kind off "buldozer" on the front.
    Love it!!!
That you also can house as cleanup system.
    Can i find it somewhere?
    Keep up the great work.

Thank you for watching! The bumper was made by processing plastic sheet. Urethane sponge is used as a cushioning material. The attachment for recovering the boat was made by processing the grill of an old electric stove. For attachment, we used Insiloc, which is used to bundle electric wires. Details will be posted on Facebook, so please check it out.

      Thank you, dear friend!
It looks like the number will increase at the club I belong to.
The scale is about 1/48. It seems possible to make a 1/87 bridge using just the hull.😁

The transmitter/receiver and motor are used as is.
I replaced the positive and negative terminals on the motor to improve the rocket start. I reversed the throttle lever's forward and backward movement.
